For a brief, loud moment, it looked like the judiciary had decided to run a newsroom. Headlines screamed as though they were issuing a moral death sentence to a journalist. “Should be thrown out.” “No decency in reporting.” “Career in disarray.” Strong words. Perfect outrage bait.
The Delhi High Court wanted Newslaundry journalist Manisha Pande “thrown out.” The warning was so explicit: the court mentioned it could make observations that might derail her career. Social media posters froze sharp oral remarks into permanent judgments. Commentary followed commentary, most of it outraged, some triumphant, very little careful.
