By Staff Writer in Media News on

Priyanka on April 23, demanding a review of the newly formed Hyderabad District Media Accreditation Committee. The delegation raised objections to the committee’s constitution, alleging lack of fair representation for major newspapers and leading media organisations. They said recommendations from various journalist unions were ignored and expressed concern over the exclusion of senior journalists. Criticism was directed at the appointment of new members while overlooking experienced professionals. Associations representing photo, Urdu, video, small and medium, and electronic media claimed their suggested names were disregarded, with only favourable individuals included, IND Today reported. Calling for transparency, the delegation argued that the selection process lacked clarity and undermined confidence in the system. They urged immediate reorganisation

And this is not an isolated case, from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu, reporters covering the ongoing Assembly elections say the ground reality has shifted noticeably. Shamna K, a journalist with Malayalam news channel Big TV, recently took to Facebook, alleging she had received abusive messages, including misogynistic remarks and threats after questioning BJP candidate Sobha Surendran at a press conference over an alleged cash-for-votes controversy in Palakkad.  Shamna had asked whether the woman seen on camera handing out cash, dressed in a white churidar, was associated with Surendran. When the candidate failed to provide a clear response, she ended the press conference. The abuse followed shortly after. Shamna filed a complaint with police, submitting screenshots as evidence, and said the attacks would not deter her. "The more
