TRAI revises digital radio migration fee formula in policy update

By Staff Writer in Media News on
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a corrigendum to its October 3 recommendations on the Digital Radio Broadcast Policy for Private Broadcasters, revising the migration fee formula to enhance fairness and predictability. The amendment affects cities where no bids are received for new digital frequencies. Previously, TRAI proposed using the Average Determined Price (ADP) from similar category cities with successful bids. Upon review, TRAI noted this could cause “certain aberrations” compared to the reserve price of the concerned city. “In case no bids are received for new frequencies in a city, then Reserve Price (RP) for that city should be considered as the basis for migration amount for the purpose of migration of existing broadcasters,” the Authority stated in the corrigendum. This revision alters paragraph 3.74(g) of the earlier recommendations submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). It impacts FM broadcasters consideri

TODAY'S TEN: Delhi’s 1.9-crore cloud seeding experiment falls flat

By Pragadish Kirubakaran and Meena R Prashant in Media News on
Image source: TOI and Copilot; Edited by Dinesh Raj M   Delhi looked skyward with hope on Tuesday — and found nothing but haze. The capital’s much-hyped cloud-seeding experiment, meant to coax rain and cleanse its choked air, ended in disappointment. Despite two back-to-back sorties by IIT Kanpur’s Cessna aircraft, not a single measurable drop of rain fell in Delhi. Only trace precipitation — 0.1 mm in Noida and 0.2 mm in Greater Noida — was reported, and even that came from a weather app, not an official gauge. What was meant to be India’s boldest experiment in weather modification turned, quite literally, into a damp squib. Priyangi Agarwal for The Times of India reported that the Delhi government conducted two cloud-seeding trials across the NCR on Tuesday, but the skies refused to respond. The flights, each carrying 4 kg of seeding material, released flares over Burari, Mayur Vihar, Noida, Karol Bagh, Modinagar, and Meerut, yet not a drop reached the ground. II

Nine.com.au Editor Marc Dodd on how PRs can cut through

By Tony Bosworth in Media News on
In an era dominated by digital communication, the humble phone call and the power of personal relationships are still proving invaluable tools for public relations professionals seeking to capture the attention of busy editors. Marc Dodd, editor at nine.com.au, talked on Influencing Insider about the challenges and opportunities facing PRs today, and underlined the importance of tailored approaches and genuine connections. Dodd, who admits to receiving "something like 120 PR pitches" in his inbox daily, highlighted the struggle for email pitches to stand out.  "It's really hard to make inbox PR pitches stand out," he confessed. While acknowledging the volume, he surprisingly expressed a fondness for a more traditional method: "Honestly, I don't mind a phone call... I do feel like the phone calls are kind of a forgotten art these days." However, Dodd's preference for a call comes with a caveat: it's about finding "the right person to call." He advises PRs to "find out who they

For those who don't know, Mr White is an Aussie tech bro who founded and runs software company WiseTech. There's been much scuttle-buttle surrounding White when it comes to some ex-employees and sexual favours that might have been done. That's all been covered ad infinitum, but the man cannot seem to stay off the front pages, and today is no exception.  What's the story? The Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) raided a WiseTech office in Sydney on Monday and executed a search warrant requiring the production of documents regarding alleged trading in WiseTech shares by co-founder White and three WiseTech employees during a blackout period when shares should not have been traded.
