A veteran in the media industry, Nandagopal Rajan was deeply influenced by his grandfather, a senior journalist in Kerala, to follow his footsteps. Having led the online editorial of Indian Express for over a decade, he has launched four language portals for the publication and strongly feels serious journalism will be more empowered in the age of AI.

1) How did you get started in journalism?
Journalism was the only thing I wanted to do. I was deeply influenced by my grandfather who was a senior journalist in Kerala. I was writing since my early teens and edited both school and college magazines. I joined IIMC after my graduation and got a campus placement with Hindustan Times.

Bobby Naqvi, former editor of Gulf News, began his journalism on the streets of Bhopal where he covered local news, graduated to the Dainik Bhaskar group and eventually shifted to Dubai in 2000. He still considers the story that he did on Muslim parties agreeing to give up their claim on the land for construction of Ram temple where the Babri Masjid stood as his best but adds that there's more to come.

1) How did you get started in journalism?
I started my career in journalism in 1993 pursuing an internship with a daily newspaper in Bhopal and then moved on to Dainik Bhaskar group. After 2000, I shifted to Dubai.

I do stories by myself over a variety of issues and take minimal support from the team.

Prasar Bharati to launch new OTT platform at IFFI

Prasar Bharati is set to unveil its own OTT streaming platform at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 20.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will inaugurate the platform, which will be available on Android, iOS, and as a website, according to Doordarshan.
The platform will feature a diverse array of content, including archives, live TV, exclusive shows, ONDC-enabled shopping, games, and live sports. Aiming to cater to a wide audience, it will offer iconic Indian television series, award-winning films, and regional programming.
Multiple media reports including The Times of India and Hindustan Times described the launch as "a significant step forward for Prasar Bharati as it broadens its scope to serve as a major player in the global digital entertainment landscape."
With scalability to support up to 100 million concurrent users, the service will provide content in SD, HD, and 4K.

The Times of India reported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "no era for war" message was conspicuously omitted from the G20 joint declaration. Furthermore, the summit avoided directly condemning Russia, focusing on broader themes of global peace and stability. The declaration did, however, send a strong signal to COP29 by emphasising the need for new climate finance goals and a phased reduction in fossil fuels, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Mitch Churi announces departure from ARN and KIIS Network

Mitch Churi has announced his departure from ARN and the KIIS Network, where he currently hosts The PickUp and The Night Show, as part of a cost review by the network, Radio Info reported.
Churi, whose decade-long tenure began with making coffees for Kyle and Jackie O, revealed on air that his final show will be on December 13.
An ARN spokesperson lauded Churi’s contributions, describing his energy, humour, and dedication as instrumental to the network’s success. “We are incredibly grateful for Mitch’s work over the years and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” they said.
While Churi is stepping away, his The PickUp co-hosts Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne are expected to continue with ARN.

Rory McClaren will host ABC Radio Adelaide Mornings in 2025

Rory McClaren has been named the new host of ABC Radio Adelaide's Mornings program set to begin in January 2025, a media release stated. He will succeed long-time presenter David Bevan who is retiring at the end of the year.
McClaren, currently the state political reporter for ABC News South Australia, expressed excitement at taking up the position and his respect for Bevan’s legacy, adding that he aims to build on his work and prioritise local voices and stories.
Having joined the ABC in 2021, McClaren has extensive experience in political reporting at both state and federal levels, including stints in Canberra. The Building Bad investigation won the 2024 Gold Walkley award, Australia's highest journalism honor. The investigation, led by Nick McKenzie and a team from The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian Financial Review, and 60 Minutes, was praised by the Walkley Judging Board as "an incredible, courageous feat of investigative journalism with huge ramifications.” The team was recognised for its successful cross-platform collaboration in telling a story Australian journalists had long attempted to expose.
