Tencic signing off from Triple J

Nat Tencic is leaving Triple J at the end of 2021.She said that she will focus going forward on more podcasting work and develop more consent education material. She has been the host of Triple J sex and relationships show Hook Up for the past four years.
“Sex is weird for everyone, but it’s weird in a good way when you know you’re not the only one going through it. I’m proud to have brought that to people who needed it, and I know the next Hook Up host will keep bringing you a warm, understanding embrace week in and out,” said Tencic.
The show’s producer, Dee Salmin, has agreed to succeed Tencic as host in the New Year.

Prafulla Govinda Baruah: A Giant of Assam’s Newspaper Industry
In Assam, the passing of Prafulla Govinda Baruah, Chairman Emeritus and Editor of The Assam Tribune, marks the end of an era. He breathed his last at a private hospital on Sunday, December 14, at 9.30 pm, following age-related ailments, The Assam Tribune reported.
Born in Dibrugarh on July 26, 1932, Baruah’s academic journey was as distinguished as his professional one. A first-division matriculate from Gauhati University, he went on to study at Cotton College and later at Presidency College, Calcutta, earning degrees in Economics, an MA, and an LLB—graduating as a gold medallist from Calcutta University in 1957.

Four journalists face jail after Maharashtra panel finds reports against MLC defamatory

The Maharashtra Legislative Council’s Special Privileges Committee has recommended a five-day jail term for four journalists for allegedly damaging the image of MLC Amol Mitkari by running false news stories about him. One editor was spared after he apologised.
According to The Hindu, presenting the report in the Council on Saturday, December 13, 2025, committee chairman Prasad Lad said the journalists linked to a YouTube channel called Satya Ladha had aired false reports against Nationalist Congress Party leader Amol Mitkari.
He said Akola-based journalists Ganesh Sonawane, Harshada Sonawane, Amol Nandurkar and Ankush Gawande were found guilty of spreading false news and defaming the MLC’s public and political image. The panel has recommended five days’ imprisonment for them. The committee held six meetings to look into the matter.

Delhi’s air breached the “severe plus” category on Sunday for the first time this winter — with a 24-hour average air quality index of 461 — making it the second worst AQI reading for December since the system was launched in April 2015. This is not just the case with Delhi as AQI is poor across the country with several major cities not in the safe pollution limits. 402 journalists received government financial aid between 2014 and 2025

The Government of India said that it has provided financial assistance to 402 journalists and media personnel, or their families, under the Journalists Welfare Scheme (JWS) between 2014 and 2025.
The information was shared in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan while responding to questions from Arvind Ganpat Sawant and Sanjay Uttamrao Deshmukh.
Murugan, reiterated government commitment towards welfare of media professionals, stating that journalists accredited with the Press Information Bureau (PIB) are eligible for Central Government Health Scheme facilities across the country. These benefits also extend to their family members and cover treatment at government hospitals and CGHS-empanelled private hospitals at CGHS rates.

Science Communicators join forces to advocate for safe digital space for children

A group of leading Australian science communicators has urged Communications Minister Anika Wells to fund a high-quality, safe digital space for children under 16 as the national social-media ban takes effect.
The group includes Australian Science Communicators’ CEO Phil Dooley, Refraction Media’s Jasmine Fellows, Science Journalists Association of Australia President Jackson Ryan, and former Curiosity Show Host Dr Rob Morrison.
