The Age's Charlotte Grieve moves to the ABC and launches new book

By Tony Bosworth in Media News on
Well known journalist Charlotte Grieve is leaving The Age after seven years and joining the ABC from February. Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Grieve said: "I finished up at The Age this week after joining as a trainee just over seven years ago. It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for all the opportunities I was given and the people I met along the way. I never got to meet Michael Gordon, but his quote on the newsroom wall says it all.  "I was lucky enough to go on two fellowships through the fund he left behind, travelling with Jason South to the outback for reporting trips I'll never forget. The job is a true privilege, and the passion, energy and chaos that goes into putting out a newspaper every day is nothing short of magic. Too many people to name to say thanks but forever indebted to my editors Mathew Dunckley and Michael Bachelard who have backed me from day one.  "I'll be joining the ABC in February, and can't wait to s

FOURTH RIGHT: Journalists and Defamation Suits: A "touchy" affair

By Pradeep Damodaran in Media News on
Image edited by Dinesh Raj M   Any journalist worth his or her salt would have a long file of defamation suits they have faced over their career. Some even consider it as a mark of honour for fearless reporting and, more often that not, these cases end up in a compromise after the initial showdown.
