THE BRIEF: World holds its breath

Hope springs eternal this morning as the world waits to see if the remaining Israeli hostages held by Hamas will be released and exhanged for as many as 2500 Palestinian prisoners.
But the way the dailies cover the story this morning varies greatly. While The Australian devotes most of its front page to the story, the Sydney Morning Herald doesn't - the only reference in the Sydney paper on its front page, is a cartoon clip leading you inside to two pieces of Comment from ex-US Democrat staffers Bruce Wolpe ('Nobel for Trump? Not now, not ever') and Corey Alpert ('The world needs a peacemaker, not a master of grift'). Wolpe was also an advisor to ex-PM Julia Gillard.
