Once a staple of Indian film journalism, Screen magazine, launched in 1951 and best known for instituting the Screen Awards, has made a comeback.  After shutting down post its 2015 acquisition by Star India, the publication has been revived in 2024 with a new digital identity. When Pramila Krishnan returned to field reporting with a baby in her arms and a nanny in tow, she wasn’t just telling stories—she was living one. Sleepless nights, feeding breaks mid-interview, and a camera crew that learned to pause when her child cried: this was the newsroom, remixed by motherhood. A seasoned multimedia journalist from Tamil Nadu, Pramila spoke to Influencing Insider during Breastfeeding Week about navigating identity, journalism, and the fierce recalibration that comes with becoming a mother. Her journey into journalism began in childhood, flipping through newspapers alongside her grandfather. “I used to check every day to see if there was any news about my village,” she says. “That’s how I learned to read—and why I never stopped chasing stories.” Back then, she considered catering or tourism as possible careers. But journalism struck a different chord. “I didn’t want a job that just logged hours. I wanted one that made me feel something.”
