Garvey takes on deputy editor role at The Mercury

On LinkedIn Garvey - who has covered regional rounds for going on two decades in Tasmania and mainland Australia, as well as holding senior editorial positions - said goodbye to Townsville and revealed she had many happy memories at the helm of the iconic newspaper.
She will be replaced by Jill Poulsen who has previously been deputy editor at News Corp's NT News.
Garvey said, "Townsville, it’s been an incredible couple of years with so many highlights and most of all some pretty amazing human beings I had the pleasure of working alongside in the Bulletin newsroom and out in the community," she said.
