Nine still ahead, as total news readership revealed

The figures which refer to the 12 months leading to June 2023, represent news readership across print and digital formats, with overall findings showing that 96% of Australians aged 14+ years consume news in any given month, with 50% of consumers considered heavy users of the channel.
Regarding technology readership, it accounted for 5 million unique readers, making up 23% of the population, trailing behind other speciality topics such as travel and auto.
Nine’s Total Publishing assets including The SMH, The Age and AFR reached a de-duplicated audience of 16.3 million Australians across print and digital.
