From newsroom to silver screen: Actors who were journalists first

Their journey from reporting facts to performing iconic roles on screen adds a fascinating layer to their artistic persona.
R. Sarathkumar, the versatile actor of Tamil cinema, began his professional life far from the film studios. In 1974, he earned the title of Mr. Madras University as a bodybuilder, but soon gravitated towards journalism. Moving to Bangalore, he joined the Tamil newspaper Dinakaran, initially as a distributor and later as a reporter. Yet destiny had other plans, and Sarathkumar made his acting debut in the Telugu film Samajamlo Sthree in 1986, marking the start of a successful cinematic journey.
